Mission

The primary mission of Phu Phiang is to support village artisans and preserve their cultural heritage by sensitively exposing them to interested outsiders. From the respect and appreciation of others, artisan communities discover the true value of their own skills and culture, which should be preserved for a strong future. These are values that are easily lost in our modern, globalised world.

With this in mind, Phu Phiang has adopted the following mission statement:

Phu Phiang aims to practice fair trade by working towards a more equitable form of tourism in Thailand. We strive to ensure that our tourism does not harmfully exploit communities or the environment. On the contrary, we want local people to benefit both materially and spiritually from being involved as partners.
Phu Phiang creates exchanges in cultural experience to bring about an understanding where we can discover our similarities and rejoice in our differences.
Phu Phiang fosters an appreciation for Thai crafts and culture not only for foreign visitors but among the Thai people themselves, especially the younger generation.
Through travel and tourism, Phu Phiang tours help revive knowledge and wisdom by supporting artisans from local community groups
