Originally, tours to visit craft producers in their homes and communities were organized for local customers, supporters and volunteer workers of The ThaiCraft Association. ThaiCraft is a registered "Fair Trade" organisation that helps village artisans throughout the country achieve self-reliance by creating income-generating opportunities. ThaiCraft offers producer groups training in marketing and assists in finding markets for their products both locally and by export. Through its work, ThaiCraft is helping to preserve indigenous craft traditions, passed down from generation to generation.

With more people seeking opportunities to visit craft producers, the organizers of ThaiCraft set up Phu Phiang, as an independent company, to run and expand the tours. Phu Phiang's "Crafts and Culture" tours to Thailand are tailor-made to meet every travelling group's interest. To experience the work and culture of Thai artisans, our small groups visit homes of craft producers in villages who are partners with Thai Fair Trade organizations. We provide travellers with the opportunity to meet the people behind the products and to see at first hand the impact of Fair Trade practices.

Furthermore, Phu Phiang also offers its administrative experience to SME organizations overseas wishing to organize or take part in events and fairs in Thailand.
